On the research side, higher water intake has been associated with a lower risk of fatal heart disease in a large observational study of more than 20,000 adults (Chan and colleagues, 2002; PubMed). That's an association, not proof that water was the cause, and it certainly doesn't mean a morning glass stops a heart attack.
